This year’s harvest at the farm was very good in quality, but the quantity was quite small. Because flowering in the Fiesole area this past spring was a late one, we delayed harvest for a couple of weeks so as to allow extra time for the olives to produce oil. Even so, the yield was small. Olive groves naturally produce fruit in a rhythm of abundant years followed by scarce years, and this was one of the latter. In fact, it was one of the smallest yields we’ve encountered since we started farming the groves some twenty years ago. The good news is what oil we did produce appears to be quite good—low in acidity, low in oxidation levels, creamy on the tip of the tongue, spicy at the back of the mouth. And the other good news is that we still have a few cases left. Get your orders in while we can fill them! We look forward to hearing from you all, old customers and new.
